So should you move somewhere bigger, or extend your house to make it large enough for you and your activities?

Whether it makes more sense to move or to extend depends on a number of different factors – the costs involved, your future plans, how emotionally attached you are to your house, the area you live in and the type of house you have.

Loft Conversions

Turning the loft into an office, a spare room or a guest bedroom makes full use of wasted space and it enhances the value of your property.

Although you may not need full planning consent, you will still need permission to go ahead with a conversion. Why? Every loft conversion has to comply with the Building Regulations.

You are required to achieve compliance with the Building Regulations when considering a loft conversion and you will need to submit a Building Regulation application to your local authority for the attention of the Building Control Officer.

New Builds

Many people dream of designing and building their perfect home. Building a home from scratch is not a simple job but in most cases will start with the designing.

Barn Conversions

A barn could provide the perfect shell to create a new home. They’re generally large and often offer a solid structure. Not to mention the opportunity to retain many of the original features and materials.

In 2014, permitted development rights were extended to allow agricultural buildings (e.g. barns) to be converted into homes (Class Q). Before this it was necessary to apply for full planning permission. However, this concession in planning policy should not be viewed as a sure thing for every barn conversion project.

Building Regulations

We can prepare detailed working drawings for your specific proposal. We’ll submit these drawings to the local authorities on your behalf to get approval. These detailed drawings can also be used to allow builders to give you an accurate quote for the work – the builders will then use these large scale drawings when constructing the build.
